2013 Build Les Paul Standard `Backup’ Guitar

Hand made 2013 Les Paul Standard Clone !

This is an exact duplication clone guitar that I built to protect the original Gibson Les Paul of the same year. The idea was to use this one for experimentation and external gig work whilst preserving the original.

Good plan. And it worked for that purpose.

But this one, actually turned out to be a better guitar than the factory Gibson!

The humbuckers are Dimarzio’s Air Classics for classic PAF tones that are arguably better than the factory burst buckers. And, the wiring is custom in this one to allow for Single Coil tap, Out of Phase and Master Series/Parallel. This is basically the Jimm Page #1 switching system.

I didn’t want to modify the original, so for that purpose alone, this was not only a convenience, but also quite empowering!

Otherwise, the build is typical Gibson with maple top, mahogany body, maple neck and rosewood fretboard.

Even after I sold the original, I kept this one for studio work and for sentimental reasons, but now it’s time to move on.

Condition is mint, and besides extremely light play wear, the guitar is exceptional.
